Japan's currency, the yen, is available in 1, 5, 10, 50, 100 & 500 coins, as well as 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10,000 yen bills (although the 2000 yen bill is not commonly used). Most major currencies can be exchanged at airports, banks, hotels and post offices in Japan.
